StepFeed has compiled a listicle of top Egyptian actors and actresses as “proof that Egypt is a power player in show business.”

1. Omar Sharif
Sharif started his acting career in 1962 with “Lawrence of Arabia” which earned him an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe award. He then went on to star alongside Julie Christie in Doctor Zhivago (1965), and Barbra Streisand in “Funny Girl” (1968). All amazing and must see movies!

2. Rami Malek
Rami first got his start portraying Pharaoh Akhmenrah in “Night at the Museum” and the fantastic indie hit “Short-Term 12.” He’s now starring in a little TV show called… “Mr. Robot.”

3. Amr Waked
Amr is known for his performance opposite Scarlett Johanson in “Lucy,” and also playing Muhammad Sheikh Agiza in the Oscar-winning film “Syriana.”

4. Khaled El Nabawy
Most well known for playing Mullah in the epic historical drama “Kingdom of Heaven” and also for his starring role in “The Citizen” where he played Ibrahim, an Arab immigrant who moves to the U.S. a day after 9/11.

5. Omar Metwally
Currently portraying the complicated Dr. Vic Ullah in Showtime’s “The Affair,” and has also been featured alongside Liam Neeson in “Non-Stop” and “Rendition.”

6. Khaled Abol Naga
A man of many accomplishes, Khaled studied engineering and holds a Master’s Degree in Spacecraft Engineering (#amazing!). He is currently on Season 5 of the hit TV drama “Vikings,” and recently co-stared in FX’s “Tyrant” where he played an Islamic cleric straddling the line between his own desire for democratic reform and the extremists working against the fictional Arab country of Abuddin.
