This year Ramadan falls in the midst of summer and that’s a lot of hours between suhoor (pre-dawn breakfast meal) and iftar (after sunset, breaking of the fast). Mohamed Abdelkader says of fasting, “You have to push yourself to change. And that’s what fasting does. So it’s a practical Islam teaching.”
