In the aftermath of last Friday’s Paris attacks, many Muslims are on high alert over xenophobic behavior and potential threats. Over the weekend, officials say a mosque in Ontario, Canada was deliberately set on fire — fortunately no one was hurt but smoke damages are said to total $80,000. Mayor Daryl Bennett condemned the arson saying, “Attacking a place of worship is a despicable act. Masjid Al-Salaam, the name of the mosque, means mosque of peace.”
More incidents were reported over the weekend. Two mosques in Florida received bomb threats and a Muslim family in Orlando came home from a charity event to find a bullet had pierced their home. Their neighbors believe they were targeted for their faith.
