Original article published in the Biblical News on 01/21/2016

Last month college professor Larycia Hawkins wrote on her facebook page that Christians and Muslims “worship the same God.” While many saw this as a non-controversial statement of support from a Christian, her university took issue. Ms. Hawkins is a tenured political science professor at Wheaton College in Illinois, known as the “evangelical Harvard.” The school has put Ms. Hawkins on administrative leave, and are said to be in the process of termination.

Here’s what the Pope said: “Violence by man against man is in contradiction with any religion worthy of that name, and in particular with the three great monotheistic religions [Judaism, Christianity, and Islam]. Life is sacred, a gift of God.”

Biblical News defines monotheism as the “doctrine or belief that there is only one God,” and draws the conclusion that “Pope Francis believes Christians, Jews and Muslims worship the same God.”
