Honey Maid has a brand new commercial featuring a Muslim woman whose family is new to the neighborhood. In the commercial, the Muslim woman (wearing a hijab) says “The first time you go out of your house, you’re worried. Is anybody staring at you, is anybody looking?” Her new neighbor is seen curiously peering out of her window blinds with, “I didn’t know anything about her culture, only what I saw in the news.” The Muslim woman continues the narration, “I was kind of scared of how she’s going to accept me.” We then see both women outside, embracing. “But then our girls brought us together.”
The ad was released early this week and according to Huffington Post, appears to have received an “overwhelming approval” by Facebook posters, one who thanked the company for “spreading the sweetness of acceptance and friendship!”
