American Islamic leaders discussed with the New York Times their very active role engaging young people about the dangers of ISIS and the realities of competing with “savvy online appeals” and recruiters. As one Imam said of a young man he counseled, “If I talk to him for an hour, they (recruiters) undo him in two hours.”
