A millennial talks about her experience performing the hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca that all Muslims are required to make at least once in their life).
“Leading up to that moment, I was your garden-variety millennial yuppie, working the archetypal creative job in L.A. I consider myself an observant Muslim… Many American Muslims don’t go [to Mecca] until they are middle-aged, when their children are teens or older, but my husband and I wanted to do it now, while we are still young and don’t have the responsibilities of a family,” pens the author, Fareeha Molvi in this piece for New York Magazine.
